BEGINNER

Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type.
Can introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has.
Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

This level introduces learners to the essentials of the Spanish language, focusing on everyday vocabulary, pronunciation, and sentence construction. Students learn to understand and use simple expressions and phrases needed for basic communication. The course helps learners introduce themselves, ask and answer questions about personal details, and engage in simple conversations. Emphasis is placed on comprehension and pronunciation, enabling learners to interact effectively when the other person speaks clearly and slowly. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation to handle everyday situations with confidence.

Grammar Topics:

Definite and indefinite articles, noun gender and number, present tense of regular and irregular verbs (ser, estar, tener, ir), subject pronouns, possessive adjectives, basic question words, simple prepositions, and common verb conjugations.

Vocabulary Focus:

Numbers and counting, days and months, colors, family members, common objects, basic food vocabulary, professions, hobbies, body parts, and essential phrases for everyday communication in Spanish-speaking environments.

Cultural Insights:

Introduction to Spanish and Latin American cultures, basic customs and etiquette, dining traditions, and practical phrases for travel and daily life in Spanish-speaking countries.

Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography).
Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment, and matters in the areas of immediate need.

At this stage, learners expand their Spanish skills to manage day-to-day situations more comfortably. You’ll be able to understand common phrases, simple sentences, and frequently used expressions related to personal and family information, shopping, and work. The course focuses on developing fluency through real-life role plays and conversational practice. You’ll learn to describe your surroundings, talk about your routine, and communicate with confidence in familiar contexts. The learning approach is fun, interactive, and designed to help you speak more naturally in everyday life.

Grammar Topics:

Preterite and imperfect tenses, future tense (ir + a + infinitive), direct and indirect object pronouns, reflexive verbs, comparative and superlative forms, demonstrative pronouns, gustar and similar verbs, and more complex sentence structures.

Vocabulary Expansion:

Clothing and fashion, transportation and travel, shopping and commerce, health and medical terms, weather expressions, technology and communication, leisure activities, and expanded vocabulary for describing experiences and surroundings.

Practical Skills:

The B1 level equips learners with practical skills to understand and communicate effectively in work, study, and travel contexts. You will be able to discuss familiar topics, share personal opinions, and handle most situations likely to arise while traveling in Spanish-speaking regions. The course enhances your ability to produce coherent text, engage in discussions, and understand standard spoken Spanish. Grammar and vocabulary are expanded to support more complex communication, while professional and cultural applications of the language are emphasized for broader usability.

Grammar Topics:

Subjunctive mood (present and imperfect), conditional tense, perfect tenses (present perfect, pluperfect), commands (formal and informal), relative pronouns, passive voice, por vs. para, advanced use of pronouns, and complex sentence structures.

Communication Skills:

Expressing doubt, emotion, and desire; making recommendations and suggestions; describing hypothetical situations; understanding and using idiomatic expressions; formal and informal register; professional communication; and developing fluency in spontaneous conversation.

Cultural Competence:

This level brings learners closer to fluency and cultural depth. You’ll learn to discuss complex and abstract topics confidently, including work-related, cultural, and academic subjects. The course focuses on developing advanced speaking, reading, and writing skills, allowing you to interact naturally with native speakers. You’ll explore nuanced language use, idiomatic expressions, and cultural insights that help you sound more authentic and articulate. With emphasis on fluency, structure, and clarity, learners will be able to express opinions, debate ideas, and create detailed, meaningful text across diverse topics.
